We are back from the weekend. How did you do? Saturday: Was a travel day for me. I left my hotel room in Tampa at 3:45am, dropped off my rental at 4:30, went through security at 5:00 and was destined for Baltimore at 6:20. Once landing in Baltimore, I was supposed to get a connection to Manchester and be home by 12:15 but delays kept me in Baltimore for a few hours. I managed to get into Manchester at around 1:30. Not much modeling that day as I was pretty beat. Sunday: Was spent working on a few N scale projects. Mainly building couplers for my old B&M GP9 I super detailed way back in 2004, also known as the era of when I had good eyesight! I figure I’ll run the layout with some New England power while I look for a good HO plan for the new layout. So how about you? What did you accomplish? Let us know. We’ll assemble again on Friday the 22nd and do it all over again. Until then, have a good week, stay safe and as always... High Greens!
Sold some surplussed N scale. Used those dollars to order several HOn30 freight car laser kits. Am excited, awaiting their arrival!
Finally got around to building 4 atlas milled lumber kits. Since I missed the train show last week I hit the online train show where I spend several days fighting for the stuff I want . I was able to score a coil car Saturday. Sunday I started a structure kit by adding some paint to the brick area. Now to finish it today.
Finally finished up my Atlas N Scale B&O/Chessie System SD-35s after cleaning, adding a new analog circuit board to one, two new Scale Speed motors, a new body shell and fuel tanks. They run beautifully. I'll next be on the lookout for a Fox Valley B&O wagontop caboose to complete the set for service …. when I get underway building my new railroad.
Accomplishments for this past weekend-? Not a whole lot. Was in kind of a funk -- can't explain why. Saturday - got a little done on my Rock Island project. That's about it. Sunday -- the same. So, I hope Y'all had a great weekend, Wolf
managed to get the lighting wired up on my GP9 and washed it ready for the spray booth also modifyed the coupling box covers on a set of 3 Kato covered hoppers so they can be screwed on, shimed the boxes to fit scale kadees and added a load of lead to get them somewhere near RP20
Progress was made on the usual locomotive to serve on the Seneca Branch, E-27 no 2804! A classy cast brass B&O capital dome plate was added to the boiler, along with a paint job that I am terribly proud of. The decoder will arrive tomorrow, and tomorrow will hopefully see this loco run as good as it looks!
Kind of a mixed bag of modelling this weekend. I had some Little Joe shells and a lone Boxcab laying around that needed paint so I primed and blasted them with their first coat of orange: Also got back my roots as a Frisco guy and tested design and fit of my Frisco "homemade" 1400/1700 series cabooses made from decomissioned PS1 Boxcars: And finally - not my work but I work closely with Jeff at MilwaukeeRoadTrainShop and he shared his progress on an order of my n-scale Boxcab kits. Still details to add but the paint really brings these to life: Cheers -Mike
Built one structure today. 5 more kits to go. I might even get another one of these. I found another spot for one. This one goes near the track like in the first three pics. In the pic next to the grain elevator I would build it differently. But it would fit. Although I was also thinking of just putting trees in that spot.
Finished my first proto 2000 covered hopper kit. Cant say it was entirely enjoyable, the fit was bad due to thick paint and the sprue placement lead to a few parts requiring a bit of work to sit properly, but on the whole I'm pretty happy with the result. Now I just need to work on some light weathering!
I went to the LHS Saturday to buy a turnout, and came back with a locomotive... A nice Atlas RS-3 in the old CN green and yellow scheme. My turnouts are in on Friday.
