I have been working on an HO 1947 American Freedom Train for a friend. So far I have the locomotive and two cars finished.

Good morning from partly sunny and cold Northeast Ohio!

The Columbia Newbery and Laurens was a shortline railroad in South Carolina eventually acquired by the ACL in 1924 and absorbed by CSX in 1984. This car represents a 1952 purchase from ACF for general service. IMRC 1944 AAR kit with Carbuilder ends and 8' Door, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and lettered with K-4 Decals.

in 1971 the PC ordered 1500 G47 Gons from Freuhauf, 1000 with steel floors and 500 with wood floors. The steel floor cars of which this is a model were mostly used in hauling scrap steel and after Conrail some were fitted with racks for hauling steel colis. This is a Railyard Models Resin kit, painted with Floquil PC Green paint and lettered with kit supplied decals.

    Thanks for looking!

Did not get around to posting anything on this thread last weekend as I was the Great Train Show being held at the local fairgrounds in San Jose, CA. It was a good one with I think 11 layouts in all scales. Peninsula Ntrak had one of the biggest layouts that we have had for awhile and I made a point to go around on Saturday morning before the show opened and get some photos of some of the modules that I did not any of. Of course with most setups a few bugs have to be worked out. Here Jerry Avallone is correcting a rail joiner problem supervised by Don Carney and Joe Giacomini.

Following my train around the layout I noticed that some of the modules had been changed or touched up. This photo below shows part of a 4 module set done by Michele Whitten which forms an inside corner. These modules are close to 25 years old so she has gone through and refreshed any of the scenery that had faded.

The club has some 2 footers with the original scenery done by Robin Gilstrom. The scenery on these had also faded a bit so recently Roger Schnittgurnd refreshed the scenery and blended the two similar but different scenes together to create a 4 foot module pair. He extended the tracks to where the two modules meet and used the PC board ties to create a joiner less connection the way FreemoN does. This worked well throughout the show and is something we my do more of as many of our modules go together in pairs like this and it would make setup easier.

Speaking of FreemoN, they also had a great layout at this show and I got some photos there too. I noticed a few modules that I had not seen before and later found out that they had come from Sacramento. Here are a couple of scenes that caught my eye.

And lastly in the series of "nighttime" downtown shots on the Gulf and Pacific Railroad is Davidsville.

Excellent work recalling an often unremarked, but significant railroad Rick. Most of the CN&L remains intact today, albeit with some line relocations in Columbia and Laurens.

I've been building gondolas! For $10 a car I really couldn't pass them up. Still need to pick up some kadee's for the other three. After these are done that crane will be repainted to WP mow as well.

    Great stuff again everyone.
Finally got some weathering done on this Tangent Air-slide hopper. Tried to simulate the hammer marks on the sides of the hopper to reflect a picture in a book I saw.
