Is anyone running the new Kato RDCs yet? If so how do you like their performance, detail etc.? Are they worth the money? I am planning on at least two sets and would like to get your reaction to them before I spend the dollar I have in my pocket ! Happy Modeling!! John
I do not beleave these have been released yet? I think Mid to late October was the last I heard.Looks like a busy fall with all the releases stacked so close and now LL is doing FA2 in January
Thanks Randy! I guess I get to be one of the first to try em out then ! Better start saving my penny's though if I'm getting two sets ! Happy Modeling!! John
If you get some let us know how they work. I have some elderly Con-Cor RDC's. The motor units run okay. The dummy unit is too light. (As in no weight at all). See below... After 17 years of sitting in a box, in a basement, I've finally dragged them out and operated them on my new layout. The a dummy unit fell off the tracks, the motor units ran fine. I opened a dummy and there wasn't even a weight inside. My next trip to the local MRR shop will include some lead. John
I have some of those ConCor RDC's I plan on officially retiring them once I get my Kato's.Mine I got used and I am less than thrilled about the performance with them but they are pretty old.

JohnC - I have 2 RDC-1 dummies, each weighted with eight #8 machine nuts. They run coupled to a powered unit, one dummy on each end, and they track very well in either direction. Machine nuts from a junk box are a lot cheaper than lead from a hobby shop.

The horns on those suckers are HUGE! They did run poor enough that 2 years ago it was the reason I didn't purchase any... Happy Railroading! Dabe
Hank, I found that two metal stand-offs from some trashed electronic equipment seemed to weigh just about right. John
