I have an older MT boxcar; the kind with the body-mounted coupler. It is need of a new coupler. Is there a specific part number I should look for? Also, I noticed that the mounting pins on these older cars are different from later types; they have a square shape at the top of the pin (and the trucks also have squared sides), so I can't just pop on a new truck with coupler attached, as the hole in the chassis for the pin is too large. Any suggestions? Thanks! Mark in Oregon
Mark, Can you drill out the hole in the chassis with an 1/8 inch bit, and put in a piece of Evergreen 1/8 dia. rod? If so, the inner dia. of the rod is .069, and you can drill and tap that for the truck screw. To make gluing the tube in, glue the end of the tube in the hole and then cut off the rest.
Here is a photo of one! I have, and Kez had the right answer! That square shape helps keep the truck from spinning 360 degrees
There you go...as it turns out, I found I had a couple of 905s on hand, so it's been taken care of. Thanks for everyone's participation. Mark in Oregon
