Märklin 88035 (D&RGW 268) replacement mechanism

Hi,

While the price of the Märklin 88035 (D&RGW 268) has spiralled completely out of proportion, one originally sees just the shell offered.

Any ideas for an alternative driving mechanism? Would the 8803 work? And if not, what else would?

I'm just guessing. BR24 looks similar. And if I'm not totally wrong, it's the same chassis like BR74.

Thank You. Then I was right. You can get older BR24 and BR74 for cheap.

 

Thanks - yes, it seems to fit an 8895 with minor modifications. Will print out the two sheets for detailed comparison.

It certainly is a cute shell...
