These are pix of the "Convenience store" kit I've mentioned. He also has electronics kits for various scales. He is called Iron Penguin Electronics. The aisles and freezers come with the kit. I used parts of decals and signage to accent them. The deli and lunch counter are from my scrape box. This is a work in progress. Aren't they all. Jim
Great looking detail. I like super-detailing myself. But one has to accept that much of the interior detailing will get lost on the layout. I find more satisfaction with exterior details like garbage cans, dumpsters, gas and electric meters, and such...all available in Z.4 Mark
Thanks, Mark. Mostly I agree with you. I wouldn't do this with every building. This particular build was calling for it and then I came across these on ebay and, well, I just had to try them. I really like to super detail every build in one way or another, garbage cans, litter, boxes, crates, etc...I am waiting for additional parts to arrive so I can finish it. I will post it when I am done. It will even have a pigeon coop on the roof. BTW. Have you tried 1/8" shrink tubing for open 55 gallon drums? I use them all the time since I stumbled across it. I stuff them with various crap. They can be crushed to look even more realistic. The tubing comes in a few different colors. Blue and black are the most useful. I paint the inside rust. The punch-outs from laser-cut kits make good looking fruit crates. They are also part of this build. If I were a laser kit maker I would sell the punch-outs as details. They are uniform in size. They stack easily. Larger punch outs make good plywood sheets. I don't throw anything out and am always looking for z-appropriate "stuff." Jim

Hi, Matt Thanks. I will check them out. Yes, this is the Munson Building. I have made 2 buildings from one kit. I used the back for the building on the right. I am waiting for Rich to cut me some additional parts so I can complete it. Right now it has no back. I'm not sure if it will. TBD. I don't know how I overlooked this kit for so long. It resembles my old neighborhood in Roxbury, Ma. There was a block of buildings across the street from us called the Lent Block that had 9 buildings almost exactly like these. Each had 3 20'x36' apartments and a shop on the ground floor. They were built in the late 1870's and razed in 1966. I intend to model 6-7 of them. They backed up to the NHRR viaduct that ran along Columbus Avenue. My home port. The details are from my childhood memories of the old neighborhood, long gone since 1966. The pigeon coop will go on the roof of building No. 2. when it is complete. It is a memory of my grandfather who raised them on his roof in the North End of Boston. The rooftop gardens are also a nod to him. The market is "Russo's Market" our local grocery store. It was actually on the other side of the street . It was 2 separate building just like you see. So, it has been moved to the Lent Block. The shops I will model are: Jackson Square Glass (still in business,) a liquor store, a Chinese hand laundry, a sign painter, an Italian grocer and a Cuban restaurant. Where has all the diversity gone? Here are a few pix. I hope you like them This project is in a standstill until the parts arrive.
Thanks, Matt. My Columbus Avenue module is coming together. These will really be the look I am looking for. Yes, it is a great kit. I'm hoping some day RCLaser does some buildings with back porches. Our house did, as did most of the houses on the block. Our front room (parlor, in Boston) faced directly at the NHRR 4 track mainline.. Been watching trains all my life. I take the subway to work every day. The Mattapan PCC trolley stops at the end of my street. Jim

The best trolley ride in America. I live a 5 minute walk to Ashmont so I don't take the trolley anymore. Its last stop before Ashmont, Cedar Grove, is at the end of my street. I do see it daily. Jim
