    Hi all,

I've been looking at the SurroundTraxx DSP-80 sound system, which uses transponding/detection blocks and a sound processor to feed multiple speakers under the layout, supposedly with smooth cross fading between zones. It's also been next to impossible to get a feel for the realism of this system without seeing one in person.

It looks like this is only compatible with Digitrax Loconet systems though, which I have, though I have been having sporadic issues with my base station and am hesitant to commit to the SurroundTraxx system until I have a solid reliable DCC setup.

I'm aware of the BLI rolling thunder which seems like it only handles the Bass sounds, and also JMRI virtual sound decoder which sounds promising but is in it's infancy from what I understand.

On-board speakers are not an option as I won't be able to equip all my locos with them.

Is there any other system out there that I may be overlooking please? Or any thoughts/advice on the above?

    thank you very much.
