A friend of mine sent this to me asking if I knew any information as to what type of locomotive this is. His recently deceased father worked on it and wanted to know more. I am pretty good with this type of stuff, but frankly have no idea what model this is or what Railroad, can anyone help? It looks like a Baldwin, but there are no front intake louvers. It sort of looks like a Lima to me too, but the roundness of the hood is not like other Limas I have seen. International maybe????
I'm pretty certain it's an English Electric, but I haven't found that model yet. If it isn't the Jamaica Railway Corp. it was likely owned by Alcoa.
Still not finding a model designation other than 750 HP. A couple of similar units are still running (though not with their original prime movers) in New Zealand. It's a great pic. I love that pilot. Thanks for posting it!
acptulsa, you are awesome, apparently there were only two ever shipped to Jamaica. http://www.railtasmania.com/photogal/showimage.php?id=671
