HI Amanda, The Bachmann RS3 is a nice looking locomotive and decent runner, it lacks slightly on the slow speed range but that could also be the economy 2 function decoder in the locomotive. For now it's good enough for me.

Since Lone Star was a UK company based in London, England the couplers used on their Treble O (OOO) trains were resized Double O (OO) couplers. The OO coupler is still in wide spread use in the UK to this day and has even been adapted to the NEM coupler pocket. Thanks for sharing your photos of early Lone Star and Arnold rolling stock.

Have run 100 to 125 car freights on a N-Trak layout with Micro-Trains. Would run for hours, then start uncoupling several times. Then would stay together for several hours. Have used the old Red Caboose, now Fox Valley couplers between engines with Micr-Trains on both ends. Had problems with Micr-Trains between engines.

One thing about Lone Star couplers, it is very rare to have an unwanted uncoupling. The only way is if both hooks get bounced up at the exact same time by some track irregularity.

Indeed now 4 lengths. Fox seems to have created the latest version- a body mount code FVM-51060.

These are the old Unimate II, Model 1060, which have been around for awhile. I can easily understand why they would be considered new. I didn't know they existed either until a member of my Ntrak club gave me an old package of them. I have since seen them advertised only once or twice prior to FVM obtaining them from Red Caboose.

Yes I was responding about the number of types, not their heritage. But that Fox has added (and they previously used the Unimate/ RC codes for first three) via an unnamed Denver seller.
I've used them for over a decade too, for close coupled permanent groupings like gons and the other odd types. A1G going from Rapidos to Uni/Fox fixed both short siding capacity lengths and overall better impression of 'train'.
