A Christmas Story by Rick, the other Rick. I had a grade school teacher who wanted to teach me a lesson. Yes at Christmas Time. Don't they all? For the school Christmas Party, she gave me fine coal and a stick. When we got back after Christmas Break. She asked me if I had figured it out yet. What... some sort of homework assignment? Hurrrumph. No, she said. Well teacher it was the best Christmas ever. You see my Dad's Bosses Son gave me a working steam engine and the coal was perfect for it. I was able to burn the coal in the fire box and heat up the water to create steam and cause the motor to work. I could then hook it up to a hobby lathe and carve out structure columns for the buildings on my HO train layout. I could see her gritting hear teeth. And, if I had known about the Scrooge Movie back then, I'm sure I would have seen his face. You know. Just like in Home Alone 2. Got her good and no it never occurred to me that in her eyes I was a bad kid. It was the perfect gift! Still chuckling out loud. Is that a gotcha! For those Home Alone (I made my family disappear), for those with family and despite it all: Have A Merry Christmas.
