I'm looking for a razor saw to cut an electrical gap (to then be filled in with styrene or another insulating material) in a HO nickel-silver track rail. I'd prefer to buy just one, though I see that X-ACTO makes the saw set in this link:

Zona also sells a number of individual saws, but from its website it's not clear which is appropriate - or best - for cutting rail.

I'd appreciate suggestions on Zona models that'll do the job, as well as other makes and models.

    Thank you.

I believe you will be much happier with a jewelers saw than a razor saw. This is what Fast Tracks sells, I'm sure you can source it elsewhere. It will give a much finer cut, maybe even so fine you won't bother with styrene.

What does this have to do with DCC? Perhaps layout building would be a more appropriate section to ask this question.

Just looked at the Zona Adjustable Jewelers Saw sold by Fast Tracks. I'd not seen that before. It's a coping saw instead of a razor saw with a spine. Is it hard to get square cuts with the jeweler's saw? I might find it hard to control the direction of its cut if it wants to wander during each stroke.

Or you could try Dremel or equivalent. Dremel has a thin cutting disk and a slightly thinker (about 1 mm) an longer lasting grinding disk.

Yeah, cutting gaps is much easier with a cutting disk. No strain on the track either.

I didn't have any problem getting a straight enough cut, it really didn't want to wander around. The blade is not deep, by any means, but it is deep enough that it doesn't wander around. I am doing N scale, I tried a razor saw, and a dremel, and the gap was ginormous. It might not look so huge in a larger scale. Of course the game is totally changed if the trackwork is already installed. The jewelers saw would be very tricky, if not impossible to use then.

    DCC requires gaps.
I use a Dremel with a diamond cutting wheel I bought from Amazon.
