For years I had no feline company due to my shadow- a loyal but fierce bull terrier who hated cats for some reason. He's gone, but I now have a tiny one-eyed feline living in my workshop, who does a great job of keeping rodents out. and is hilarious company.

I had cat knock my HO life like 0-8-0 off it's shelf. I was traumatized.

One thing we model railroaders do not do as much anymore, is actually build and fix things. Maybe, this will lead you down a new road of learning and you'll become a steam engine expert -- hidden blessings.

On thing that is critical to steam locos is the alignment of all the wheels in relation to the drive rod holes. You may have one set of wheels, just one set of gear teeth off in relation to the others.

My cat assistant can't jump very well. So he sits on the floor and looks up at the noise whenever a train goes by. He is no danger at all.

Okay time for a break from that layout and time for me. And at 32 pounds of Big Tiger Tabby when he decides he wants attention he just grabs my hand and pulls it down to him. For all his size he is very graceful and has never upset anything. Now Deekus his older sister, well.

Well, I have definitely gotten a crash course (pun intended, very much so) these past few months. I've bashed a C&O K3 from a Kato mile, I have repaired the drive gear on a brass NYC H10 I got for a very friendly price, and I am currently beginning my next project, a new boiler (a correct one!) for a C&O H-4, as Bachmann's is pretty incorrect.

All through it, my teeny lap panther keeps me company, watching intently. She does the same whenever I play guitar!

I was more heartbroken at the loss of my cat than at the loss of my father. Cats are wonderful companions, and are every bit as loving and emotional as dogs.

Oh...we have had cats. For the most part they were always good for a laugh. My daughter was/is a cat person and we always had hers around. I dont hate cats...i just enjoy my dogs more. The BBQ was just a joke...didnt mean to offend :p

Hi WM183, Did you check that first drive axle to make sure it's still in gauge? If a bent side rod was able to pull that wheel sideways, it may have moved the wheel on the axle? I do not own a Kato steam locomotive, but I'm guessing they press fit their driving wheels into geared axles? If this axle is no longer in gauge, it could lead to performance issues?
