chargers were part of a multi state order California, Oregon. Illinois, Indiana, Washington, missurri, Michigan, and Wisconsin all joining togather. they also ordered cars from kinkisharo but those are having design build problems don't know if order will be completed they are late states may lose federal funding as a result
Oh man, I am sorry for that post with the misspellings. Should have proofread. Is should say: Caltran has no F40s. The chargers will be replacing/supplementing the F59Phi fleet. CalTrain, the bay area commuter service has F40s and relatively recently purchased MP40s (or 36s?) and so I don't think was in the market. Metrolink in LA bought EMD F125s instead of Chargers.
chargers are now leading on most state trains here ptc gear is being tested so they can be cleared for 110 operation
charger are part of a multistate order marc ordered them as well. briteline appears to be having good luck with them. I see seimans is going to build single level cars to replace bilevel order that couldn't be completed
The 110 speed won't be reached for a few years now. The reason Chargers were second out on the high speed line was due to the complaints of the LED headlights ( issue resolved ) then the reliability factor. All those issues were resolved. Fun fact, they didn't come with PTC software. There has been no testing as of yet with them having PTC engaged. Now about the 110 , the cab signals, XITCS and PTC don't work together. So we dropped the 110 section back to 79. After PTC on the up goes live the speed will be 90, then it will be upgraded over time to 100 and then finally 110.
most of the Lincoln service has them now. they appear to be running well its good to see new locos old ones are getting tired
