I want to buy a loco that is discounted heavily at TrainWorld, but it is DCC equipped. Can I still use it with only DC power? It's on my grandson's cheapie tabletop layout and I don't want to spend much money on it. (I realize it's a newbie question but I don't now much about DCC)

I have a DC layout, don't know much about DCC either and am looking at a BLI Paragon UP SD7, which is advertised as being able to run in either mode. But to answer your question we will need more information; the manufacturer of the locomotive, is the board factory mount, and things like that?

Here is the information I have: Bachmann #62211 GE 44-TON SWITCHER (DCC EQUIPPED) DCC-equipped for speed, direction, and lighting
dual-mode decoder. I assume it will work since it is listed as dual mode.

Yes, dual mode means it will run on DC.
