I always love to see new photos of your layout with fresh & interesting ideas. Also glad it is up and running. Cheers
Garage roof line lowered, painting done, roofing materials going on. Good week of progress, about to be interrupted by some N Scale Kits building...
Looking great Jim! I am coming back to this thread after a long time, and there are some great modeling there! I love the highway scene - masterfully done!
My new scene is looking good. Still have a ways to go, but getting photogenic, methinks. Here's what you've been seeing previously: And now the rest of the story, an overall view: And a closer shot of that crossing: There are still things to do with the scene, many more details and lighting, but now if I have to break for CHRISTmas decorating I can do so with a clear conscience
In the for what it's worth category, the structures are models of an actual place taken from Google Maps Street View. If you follow the road around the Keene area you'll see it on the other side of the road from the tracks.
That's 1/32" Chart Tape - a drawing product. Mine is quite old now - used it on the original sub also, had a lot left. Did a quick web search, Amazon has black and white, didn't find yellow. Might try eBay... It works very well, and very easy to use.
Another week, and now lights! The yard light was especially interesting - Ngineering .018" stainless tubing and a nano LED - 0402 I think. A front shot at dusk: And that crossing:
Watching "Whats neat in Model Railroading" tonight on Youtube. Right about the 19:30 minute mark there is a drone shot of a BNSF passenger train. It instantly reminded me of this layout. Jim...Its amazing how close your work represents the prototype scenery and landscape in that area.
Thanks, Catfan. I pretty much went with the backdrop scenes which were photoed in the area of my prototype. Of course I exercise the usual modelers' discretion, always remembering Rule 1. And when working from Google Earth, Map, and Street View I try to come close. This latest is where several of my latest projects have originated - the Caliente Post office area, the highway bridge area, and now the houses/garage area - to which I am still adding detail.
