Where did you get the Cat in the video? That's a nice model. Construction equipment is very hard to find.

the cat was on the counter of my local hobby shop last one reduced in price. (please buy me. Ha Ha) I asked the owner if he could get me more construction equipment in this scale? he said that it was a discontented item. I have seen some "something bay" but over priced for me.

Nice work. Probably the biggest selection and the most variety on construction equipment is GHQ which some of our retail sponsors may have.

Nice stuff. A good friend of mine has that Big Blow, and it looked great in the box. Now I got to hear it! Super cool.

thanks, I seem to be a day late in getting ahold of construction equipment...I've seen some old links at sites that it appears companies out of business or no longer make...

Yes, I've looked at some of the GHQ stuff. I just need the confidence and time to kit them up nice, thanks for the reminder.

Some soldering suggestions that will save you all this trouble:
    1. Don't use a too small iron. Many people think they are using a small iron because it won't melt other stuff like the ties. The joint in the photo looks like the solder wasn't hot enough. The best way is to use a medium sized iron, because the best way to avoid melting ties is or anything else near a solder joint is to be able to get on and off the joint FAST. I wouldn't use anything smaller than 30-40 watts.
    2. Use Flux! Don't ever depend on the flux core in solder, it's not enough. I prefer a paste flux of the rosin type, but have also used Tix flux on rail joints to good effect, but beware, it's acid. A lot of acid, so newtralizing the joint afterwards is a good idea. Baking soda in water would be good, but I'm told windex does it too.
    3. If you're feeling flush, get a resistance soldering machine. I used one to build all my turnouts, and the tweezer tool is perfect for that, and rail joints and feeders too. You will have to get the heat just right, so try with some scrap track.
    4. Soldering rail joints is like Carnegie Hall, Practice!! I would suggest sacrificing a stick of flex for this purpose, it will seem wasteful but you will save in the long run.

Then, after laying a lot of track and soldering on feeders, etc. just a bit of rail brown in your airbrush and you'll get it all covered up in no time.
