A lot of SP fans out here in the west were very critical of the design of that one, but I sure like it. Combines the same colors of the steam mainliners hauled by GS locos and later diesel stuff. UP was gracious enough to send that unit up to the yard near Tacoma where the UP 844 and SP 4449 were berthed between runs from Tacoma to Everett, doubleheaded, back in 2007, one of which I had the privilege to ride. The UP passenger cars are magnificent and seldom available to ride for us fans.

1996 also help haul 4014 out of the Fairgrounds in Pomona on the way back home to Cheyenne. Nice duty.
