My layout has been dormant for 4-5 years . I built it to run on DC. In those 4 years I bought the Bachmann DCC set up from a local train shop that was closing down. I also bought some decoders, Digitrax's, MRC. Have been looking at the NCE for some of the loco's I have bought and was wondering if these Decoders will work ok on the Bachmann DCC set up. I under stand the part were the Bachmann has less functions. Will the other DCC decoders still work? Basic things like forward, backup stop and so forth. As you can tell I know very little concerning DCC but the bare and I do mean bare basic's. Thank you for your time. Rick
Generally speaking, any NMRA-compliant DCC decoder should work just fine with any NMRA-compliant DCC system. That would include all of the major-brand decoders and the Bachmann system you mentioned. BTW - specifically which Bachmann system did you get?
I got the EZ Command one. Basically I just want to control one or two switchers in the yard. I don't really need to control trains that circle the layout, yet. I don't think I'm being cheap but the extra money for DCC Loco's I'm not 100% convinced it is worth it. Thanks for the help. Rick
I have the Bachmann controller that I use at home and it works fine with any brand decoder that I have used (not that many), but any DCC controller should control most all decoders.
