Anyone know where I can find some realistic Z-scale signals? I'd like to find some of the Traincat ones that were the tri-color ones, but he seems to have closed up shop. Been looking at all the Z-scale seller sights, ebay, etc., with no luck. Animek makes them, but I'd have to buy atleast 4 of the signal bridge kits, just to get four signal heads!o_O:mad:

    Kurt,
Micron Art produces both a two and three head searchlight kit, non-operational. If you're interested in scratch-build, check out the August 1993 Model Railroader magazine, for an operational searchlight. If you have interest in the latter, let me know and I can provide a source for the 3 color LED.

If you're looking for working signals, your only choice for US ones are from Custom Signal Systems. I have no idea what they charge for them without the electronics, but you could ask.

I'll post a pic tonight, looking for a 3-light style like the Milwaukee Road had.

Here's a pic of a set taken by Fred Hyde to give an idea of what I'm looking for. Need a couple sets of these for my Milw Lines West.

I have these there 3D printed 2 lights could be lighted with a little work inside hollow in lite head and post thru bottom. Problem I had with them is the wax they use gets inside so I had to run a fine wire thru bottom to top to remove wax and hot tap water. I was thinking of using a fiber optic line with a lighted box on the bottom but never got around to building it!

Dang, those are nice, but I need a tri-color style for my Milw. Fiber optics is definitely a cool idea though! (y)

I'll see if I can work another light in! might be a while. so you need a tri light. I have seen a lot of these new micro led can have several colors in one light! I'm not sure how they work! but when I have the three lights signal I'll post them here!

I went ahead and ordered two of the signal bridges from JBM Models, so that way I can have two pairs of signals for my layout. I'll see how well those work. Would be nice to light them though!

Are you looking for a single light signal head like AT&SF used to use? One light, three colors?

Standard Milw signal across the Lines West. The ones from JBM Models will work. milw signal (2).jpg

    Why such anger?
I had included quite a few spare heads in each of my kits from day one. kits.jpg

    Aaaaaaah, dang!!

Everywhere I looked, the pics showed the finished models, with only 1 tri-color signal head on each-yours was the first one I looked at!

    Dang it.......:(
I just spent a small fortune to have those shipped from Europe!!

I will look into this ASAP, by putting the sprues photos on my web site.

I had already studied this a few years back, and modern crossings are mainly made of posts, which is not really appropriate with the laser process, those should be done with 3D printers instead.

Most hobby shops carry brass tubing of various sizes that kit would work well if you bought the brass tubing and the kit! The only problem in 3D printing is keeping the post close to scale and still have room inside to run wires. Thin walls won't print!
