Really like all that under-frame detail really set the model apart.

Been working on some Frisco SD40-2's. Now they only had 8 all together, so it wasnt too difficult to model the entire class LOL here are 4 of them out on the MRR today.

    Here you go buddy!
I tried it with 4 units but stalled, added the 5th and away we go. In the video as soon as the power is on the lake bridge, the train is out of restricted limits and the train starts to power up. Anyway here we go. In my world there is a power plant between Lubbock and Paducah TX. And this train has been delivered by BN to the SL-SF for delivery to the plant.

    hope you enjoy

The game just changed: I designed this using Autodesk Inventor and then 3D printed it at my school. It is Illinois Central 121, also known as the Green Diamond. There is still a lot of sanding I will need to do to get rid of all the print lines. Since these are just the shells, I’ll make the underframes out of styrene as well as the trucks. Don’t even get me started on the painting I’ll have to do. image.jpg

Excellent shells. You might also consider 3D printing the underframes, perhaps with a recess for a steel or brass plate to lend strength and stiffness.

I’d like to, but I don’t think my teacher would be happy with me taking over the printer more than I already have been.o_O

I haven't posted in quite a while, but my latest project is a Quebec, North Shore & Labrador Dash-8CM model built up from a Rapido kit. I made a few changes and accepted a few compromises, but overall I'm pleased with the results. The stairs seem a bit light in the photos, but look better under the layout lights.

A couple months ago I came into ownership of a case of 30 Athearn "Blue Box" 40' Boxcar kits, all CP Rail with the pac-man logo.

I painted the first 10 brown and left these as normal 40' cars with 6' doors. Others will have upgraded doors (7' & 8') and other odds and ends. Two of which will be rebuilt with 10' doors and Hennessy power door openers for flavor.

The first 10 after painting: [IMG]

4 of these have had decals applied and completed since last week.

My workbench doesn’t have any trains, but it does have a lot of paper. I have been talking about scratchbuilding a steam locomotive lately. Last year I did some undimensioned CADD drawings, but I have been working on some O scale drawings to size down to HO these last few weeks. (I posted a while ago on this thread about this same train. I mothballed it after that. It’s back now.) It will be ATSF 3300 class, one of the ones with the articulated boiler. My goal is to have a locomotive that no one else does. (At least I have never seen anyone with one of these.) For that reason, the plans are classified documents. So no pictures, but I will say it is in the works.

Been working on a Rail Yard Models kit of a PC G47 Gon on a off and on basis.

Kit with all the parts laid out, mostly etched brass detail parts to attach to a nicely resin cast body.

Here I have attached the Kadee Coupler pockets and plastic strip to simulate the I beams of the car's frame. I have also assembled the brake gear components from the supplied Tichy AB Brake castings, and drilled all the holes in the assembled pieces to accept the wires that simulate the air piping.

Doing a little work on my Rivarossi GG1. This has been an on-and-off project for a while now. I did some detailing on the trucks before, now I am working on the pantographs. I bought this used a while ago, so it is missing all of the insulators on the roof. I took it upon myself to build new ones. I have a small die punch that I used to make circles, and then layered them up. The picture shows one of them on the roof and the parts needed to make the next one. I need to get some pins to hold them in place on the pantograph. I think a repurposed track nail might do the job. image.jpg

Did some more work on the G47!

Attached the Air Reservoir, ABD Valve, Brake Cylinder and Retaining Valve, then ran all the respective air lines to hook these components up.

I just purchased this from Ebay and I would love if someone could help me identify what I have. I have never seen anything like it but I am sure some of you have. It has an all metal body that is nicely detailed and I am guessing all by hand. When I was in this years ago I was getting into this sort of thing but I never had any engines with metal bodies. It needs a little TLC (glue the handrails back on) and she should be good to go. Here are a few pics of what I have:

I suspect it is a Cary shell on an Athearn chassis.

I'd hedge my bets at an Alco S4

Thanks for the response folks! I thought it was an Atherns shell. Just did not know about the shell.
