Seems like a million years ago. They were top of the list performers, way back then. By today's standards, well.....

Con Cor/Kato...long ago Kato made the drives on E's, PAs, DL109s. They are good locomotives, very heavy and reliable. A bit noisy, but will pull a stump.

I used those old Con Cor/Kato mechanisms to re-power my old Atlas C-Liners. I had to shorten them a bit and cut the front truck down to make it two axle. It is always fun to run one at train shows pulling a 15 car passenger train. They get a lot of "double takes" and then comments like "My old C-Liner never pulled like that!"

How can something get this description when it is a used piece of junk.

New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item (including handmade items). See the seller's ... Read more
    Material: plastic/metal wheel s
    Color:
    black/silver wheels
    Brand:
    unbranded
    Vintage (Y/N): No MPN:
    Does Not Apply
    Grading: C-9 Factory New-Brand New

The day that it passed from one hand to another and the box or package was opened it ceased to be new. And unused? Then please explain the lack of the axles and wheels in the trucks, and the dirty condition of what remains.

It's unfortunate that some eBay Sellers neglect to perform even the most basic research on their wares or do so and choose to ignore the results. I realize that time is money, but either way, posting this trash is a foolish waste of time.

Just for kicks I went to Atlas's site and a brand new, in the never opened package, with both axles, and the rapido couplers is $2.75 so I also wonder where he/she decided on the price. I say to myself, self are there really that stupid of people out there that will buy this. But then I keep seeing old Bmann steamers out there with split axles selling for $70 and up.

To repeat something I have stated from past conversations, by paying such prices, this is just one of the ways (mis)perceptions of high cost for N scale, and model railroading, are created. :(

Just for the heck of it I went on the bay and checked what those old Bmann 4-8-4s are going for and was pleasantly surprised by a number going under $20 or a little over. So maybe enough folks are finally learning that they are trouble. They are only useful for parts and maybe with three of them you might get enough intact gears to do a repair to one. And I speak from experience having both bought some cheap ones for parts and trying the old brass tube repair which didn't come out well. But I still saw some at the same old high prices.

I'm still amazed at the expensive non N scale stuff that somehow ends up in the N scale category. All of the following are starting at $450 or more.

A new aftermarket replacement for Vickers. And 10% of the purchase price goes to the St. Jude Research Hospital.
