Found a few shots from 1982 to 1986 with most being 1985 that I had scanned a while back. Was never happy with how they scanned so didn't really do many but will share what I did. Most of these are 1985 shots. May be a couple from 1986 as well mixed in. Enjoy. CR 6493 - Hixon TN. This unit was a regular on trains 116/117 back in those days Seaboard System 8030 is actually leading an NS train out of the north end of DeButts Yard - Chattanooga TN

Southern SD40-2 # 3283 and radio control car 905908 head across TN Bridge in Chattanooga TN May 1984. If you know the location, you might notice the river level was a bit high on this sunny afternoon.
It was a pretty good flood. Here is a shot from 2015 with the normal water level that was taken maybe 300 or 400 yards down stream. The water was about half way from this level up to the bottom of the bridge. The spot where I took this picture from was maybe 15 to 20 feet under water during the flood that year.
Great shots BNSF FAN! Those were the days. Southern was widely recognized for railroad excellence and their paint scheme remains a regal sight. In April of 2016 I was blessed to find NS's SOU 3170 working in Columbia, SC, restored and repainted. It was SOU's first SD-40. I think she has since been donated to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, but I'm not positive on that.
I also saw her in Columbia around that same time frame but the day I saw her the weather and lighting were no where near this nice. Good shot.
Here are a few more. The only all black CR unit I ever caught. This was in the north end of NS's DeButts Yard - Chattanooga TN And this late night visitor was a great catch. NS's DeButts Yard diesel shops - Chattanooga TN
Steam x3 - N&W 611 leads an excursion into Chattanooga TN past the TVRM who had Southern 722 and Southern 630 double heading the museum train and to salute the 611 as she passed. Was a neat scene. Another one of those wish the weather would have been better days.
Southern 722 and Southern 630 double heading a TVRM train N&W 611 being pulled backwards out of Lexington KY since there was no wye there to turn her on.
