Good morning, good evening, where ever you may be. It’s time to gather round the station for bit of conversation on what we have planned for our weekend. Saturday: I’m off for my first train show of the year, the Trains in the Heartland show at Heartland college in Normal Illinois. For the past few weeks I have been busy with the expanded Inglenook and getting it ready for this show but I may still fall short. I still have switch machines to connect and there is zero scenery. Fortunately the back up, my half of the Galesburg City Job, is still an option. Once it gets light, I’ll see if all three modules and the legs will fit in my Focus and if they do, I’ll probably take that. Sunday: This will not only be the last day of this show this year but forever. One of our club members has been working with the college for five years to make this show possible but as of this past year, future shows would cost us thousands of dollars. With that bit of disappointment, we as a club feel it is time to move on. The show is open to the public and is only displays, no vendors. We’ll have T-Trak, NTrak, Free-Mo HO, 2-Rail O and G scale and more. If your around the Bloomington/Normal area this weekend, stop by Heartland College for this last train show to be held there. So how about you? What is on the radar for you this weekend? Shows, trees, painting, construction? Let us know! We’ll assemble again on Monday the 12th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, have fun and stay safe and as always... High Greens!
Saturday: I'll continue to work on my S-12 -- going in for a nice coat of black. sunday: - a coat of gloss for the S-12. Tinker with my IM AC-12. Hope Y'all have a wonderful weekend!! Wolf
Well, per doctor's orders, I am on couch potato status for the next couple of days. I finished up my office, but a lack of ground cover is really starting to bug me. If I feel up to standing, I might start doing more....I also need to make some realistic looking dirt and gravel parking lots
Well I need more tees so I will start my assembly line once again. Also I am stating to work on a scrap yard. This looks like another multi day task at hand. I hope to start it Sunday. We will see where it leads to.
For several years, several locals have been working to establish an HO modular club. I have been invited many times, and am on the emailing list. Did attend one meeting and public setup, a few years ago. Tomorrow they meet again and now have a place to consistently set up. I may try attending.
This weekend is the Great Train Show in San Jose, CA (Santa Clara County Fairgrounds). Will be set up with Silicon Valley FreeMo-N
Will probably play around with electronics for Kato turnout control and build one each of Rob Paisley's circuit and George Stillwell's circuit. I first want to built a perf board holder to make assembly easier. In the photo below, I'm just exploring options with component placement.
This week I spoke w/ the folks I'm planning on using for signals on my mainline. They walked me through the isolation drill on blocking my track. I'll be wiring this weekend and several weekends to come. Also plan on doing some track painting and ballast.
Orange County N-gineers will be set up in Bakersfield Ca running at the fair grounds this weekend.....come on out !
During my last track laying session I accidentally ruined my hand built turnout so I took a little time away from the trains. I did get to visit Susquehanna and New York, and Susquehanna and Eaglesmere RRs territory and right of ways last week. I found a S&E link and pin coupler pocket half buried on private property. Its now in my garage but headed to museum. (I'll cover that soon on another thread.) Last week's experience has gotten me motivated to finish laying track on my little Christmas display layout. This project has taken way more time than I expected. Mostly because of building turnouts. So this weekend I'm going to just finish the simple oval without turnouts and pack up the turn out parts until next year. I'm also going to do a little more model shop organizing. I never really finished since the shop moved. Mostly going to go through paints and supplies. I also want to see if I have all the material I need to start building a little layout based on Giles Barnabe's Micro Portage plan. http://www.carendt.com/small-layout-scrapbook/page-44-december-2005/ I can use this to represent the Eagles Mere end of S&E before it expanded to Masten Pa.
