https://www.micro-trains.com/index.php?_route_=employment I'm personally hoping we can fill this position with a model railroader. If you have any of these skills feel free to apply. Most important is the graphics arts part of the posiiton, but your knowledge of the other stuff is a plus. Cheers Joe
Well the 6 AM isn't a sweat since my last job before retirement had me up at 4 AM and at work at 5 AM, and I have a creative mind when it works. And I have a love hate relationship with computers and computer programs, they love to make me hate them, and I have called Bill Gates every name but Bill Gates. And what I have called Windows and the internet provider are not printable nor to be uttered when civilized folks are around. And I left the bitter cold and snowdrifts of Montana for a warmer climate. Plus I have just settled in Heaven's little maritime province with some of the best Oysters, and Crabs, and fishing for miles. Now if I was 50 years younger I would be tempted. So come on there has got to be a college edjumacated young whipper snapper here to fill a position there.
If I was a young guy just starting out, fresh out of computer school, this would be a dream job. Micro-trains is my number one choice for rolling stock. There are a lot of folks today really enjoying four 10 hour days with 3 day weekends. Plus you are on the ground floor to put in suggestions for new rolling stock models. Can you say "Dream Job". I sure hope a model railroader lands this job. Joe, keep up the great work at Micro-trains, you guys rock
Just out of interest, and looking at this from Scotland, are these working hours a norm in other occupations in ? Donald Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
I can probably answer that. The five day 40 hour week is the normal but some occupations have adopted a four day 40 hour week. The benefits are a three day weekend with either Friday through Sunday off, or Saturday through Monday off. Usually the shifts are split between the employees so there is always staff on Friday or Monday.
40 hour a week? That has disappeared if you have a white collar job now a days. More like 50+ and the higher end jobs will get you calls on the weekends too!
0800 - 1700 five days a week is more typical for offices or single shift industrial with an hour off for lunch. 0700 - 1500 with lunch included is a common day shift in a multi shift factory. There are as many exceptions as adherents to this, though.
Thanks- hours generally as per our own here in Scotland then. Interesting that some should choose differently - I can see the upside of 3 day weekends but also the family downside to early starts and late (ish) finishes. Construction ( my game) is one of the few remaining hard core ‘early start late finish ‘ games, which is why I now avoid that by working a design office 0900 to 1730 5day week - that’s 37.5 working hours, or, in real life, about 45 working hours, but seeing the family at both ends of the day! I have some experience in retail. Including this hobby. From that, I decided long ago to keep work and play separate.
