I haven’t heard of that one. I dabble (barely) in Nj, which is the usual 1:150 Japanese N scale on Z’s 6.5mm track, it looks better than 9mm (not my photo):
As Ken said, Japanese N scale is 1/150. Never heard of using Z scale track for the narrower gauge track that is used in Japan for the non Shinkansen lines. It does look a lot better. So is there a Z scale mechanism in use there ?
While looking at and finally acquiring some Japanese rolling stock and a few pieces of motive power I did run across on the Japanese sites some reference to narrow gauge equipment and track but no reference to scale. So the 1/130 is new to me also. Would suggest going to the Japanese web sites of their suppliers. May have to use the Google translation tool.
These, so called Nj scale models (1/150 equipments on Z gauge tracks), are entirely kit-bashed from KATO and other supplier's products currently. They take wheels to pieces, scrape off inside the trucks and reassemble them: Here are some webpages (sorry Japanese only, but pics may help you!) http://vivant.jp/nj-hatena.htm http://vivant.jp/taichi-kaiki-nazekato.htm http://vivant.jp/cyouziku-kaiki.htm Hiroshi@Boxcar Red Collection
I have Google Chrome web browser which has a translation function so for you folks using Google you should be able to translate. The translation icon is at the top right of the page next to the bookmark icon.
arx beat me to it - they are gauge conversions. I’ve done a couple of Kato Kiha110 DMUs after first buying a converted one as a template, and I’m looking at others for suitability.
