Leap of faith

Been modeling either plastic models, lionel, postage stamp N, ho, back to N never having a layout.

Just recently moved to EVERETT Washington and the new place has a spare room 7×11 that's dedicated strictly to the trains.

Hence the leap of faith title as this is my first real layout.

Will be double deck.

Level 1 will go from mainline/industrial to branch junction.

On level 2 it will loosely represent my freelanced verion of the Camas Prairie with river crossings, canyons, a horseshoe tunnel in one corner, pile trestles, more tunnels, logging/lumber, grain, paper products, inbound coal to a power plant set in the late 1970's.

Thanks for allowing me to be here hope to get some pics posted after I find my camera had help packing for the move and nothing is in any order or sense in the boxes.

Hoping to get first lumber for layout around the 10-15th as this will be a modular L-girder Layout.

Aurora Postage Stamp Trains. That's going back a bit.
Sounds like a fun project. Do lots of planning and there is plenty of good advice here.

Yes it's real bad there logging loco when you still have the set and the old yellow case when aurora used to put them out.

Welcome Aboard Vince, sounds like a Great project you have...Postage Stamp Trains; I think I was about ~ 10-14yrs old (1966 or so) when I was first introduced to them, had a Lionel set at the time which was all I thought existed at that age.

Agreed thats why it's being built in modules. West wall 1st level will begin with a small holding yard that leads to hidden staging underneath.
Then will come some industry's. Ect ect.

As it reaches the north wall there will be a swing bridge crossing a slough with a log yard on the other side (all taken from real world locations).

Then into the east wall will be more industry's.

As it reaches the southwest corner I the south wall will be an oval helix to reach level 2 as there is a set back area that'll work perfect for that.
As it reaches level 2 coming off the southwest wall will lead into a mainline/branch junction that will take the train(s) into the mountains/forest along the west/northwest wall where there will be several pile(steel) bridges on curves. Following and crossing the river/highways.

North wall will have a horseshoe curve thru a tunnel with bridges leading up to it on both sides just like the Camas Prairie.

East wall will be a town with a lumber mill, log loadout, chip loadout, lumber yard in/out, and a few other businesses.

All space dependent as to what I can actually model as I complete each module.

Just got an email back from atlas as I asked about getting 3 RS11CHINA bodies.

Really disheartening to find out they will not be doing any more atlas bodies.

I'd you need body parts sounds like you'll have to buy a complete unit.

When I can get to the library I will repost this conversation for you to read.

Looks like if I can't locate those shells I may be forced to go back to the dark side of HO.
