Thhis is the 2400 series. Just got my little layout wired and turned the power pack on. The pilot lamp is on, the red overload lamp is not. Do I have a problem? I don't remember the pilot lamp being on before. Been running my new Shay,, but decided I out a check first. Thanks guys.
The pilot lamp should light up whenever the power switch is on. The power monitor lamp should get increasingly brighter as you advance the throttle knob. The overload lamp should light up only when the circuit protector trips.
Point353 is exactly correct and they are excellent DC power packs. I like that you can turn pulse on and off because most older locos need pulse at very slow speeds but newer (since about the nineties, yeah, real new. They are for me, though.) ones don't I like the 2500 too for the momentum because sometimes, I like to throw the momentum switch on, turn the throttle up about 1/2 - 3/4 and watch the train slowly build up speed and go without me having to constantly change the throttle. Pulse is always on at slow speeds, however, although that has never been a problem for me. Doug
I never realized that railroad terminals had arresting gear. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Do you think the policemen are going to ticket Santa Fe for parking in a No Parking zone?
If they can figure out a way to put the ticket under the windshield wiper. BTW, that picture gives an idea how long F units were in service. I also can't decide whether I like the slide brake switch of the Tech II's or the push button style brake switch of the Tech IV's better. The slide type seems more railroady but the push button is easier to use. Doug
In my case, I'm the engineer. Therefore it's up to me to bring her down slowly, different for passing sidings, yard limits, or stations. I've had too much of computer-controlled environments in my career since 1957. Now I Want CONTROL...Nyah, Ha, Ha. (Charley, please give us a Snidely Whiplash sneering emoticon. )
Yeah Hank, the later part of my career was mostly computers too (1990's - 2000's) and I don't have anything against them but I want my model railroad manual (DC). Sound is really cool (John Colombo's video and whoever's it was of the Alco RS)) but I have so far resisted it. Doug
