Hey - check out the new trailers coming from DI (near the bottom of the page): http://www.deluxeinnovations.com/current/releasesneak.html Crete, Dart Advantage, and Digby/Navajo YEAH !!! Man, we are getting some cool stuff these days!!!! Dave
Very nice!! Stuff I'll be able to afford without budgeting for 6 months. I can't wait for their 53' Stax containers. See them on a lot of the UP trains around here.
Why is it everytime I start scratchbuilding something they release it as a model. I'm putting the finishing touches to my first 28' pup and Athern is bringing out pups in N scale about to start on a 53' and now DI is going to bring them out....OH well can't complain. I just modified a MT 89' tofc car to a triple 28 (RTTX) so I need 2 more (minimum ) 28's and if I can find 2 more 89's then I can build a triple 53
Sten, Two words regarding triple 53's mate,Alan Curtis they are the easiest to do of all his range, well worth the dollars!
These are great! Nice to see George and the folks at Deluxe churning out more nice intermodal products. GOOD JOB!
Hey- Glad it wasn't just me waiting for trailers. We're doing the highway version of the Platewall and the Duraplate, both of which are pretty common on the Interstates these days, as well as OFC. There are a number of very popular versions of these trailers out there, and we'll see how folks respond to them. My question to y'all here is- would a 53' reefer be of interest? If you are coming to Seattle or Chantilly this year, stop by and chat with us. We're planning what follows the Maxi 3 and the 53 foot container, and we'd love to know what you think. Craig, Steve, Roberta, and I will be at one or the other of the conventions. Best- George Johnsen deLuxe innovations
Love to see that Scheme! they don't get this far south. Nearest thing we have to a French Fry train is all of the Jack in the Box reefers running around here. George
YES, George I think that A lot of us would love to see 53' reefers done with DI's quality. Would they be simular to this type: There are a lot of reefers riding the rails through Florida. I'll keep an eye out (and camera ready) to see what types they are.
George, here is the McCain car. I had decals made to do them (I have been using the Atlas Pines trailers). Guilford originally had this traffic, and lost it. Montreal, Maine & Atlantic now has it. http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?2001101419195725069.jpg
Great job on all the new products. I have a question though. Any plans on releasing JB Hunt 53ft's? I don't follow trailers as closely as rails, but they seem to be the same types as the 3 new ones that were just released, and I know Hunt is one of the most popular road/rail schemes. Can't wait for the Maxi-3's!
George, Reefers would be great. There are so many schemes you could do. Crete has two sister companies that run reefer equipment, Sunflower and Shaffer. Both have the same stripe design as the Crete but in blue. Can send pics if you would like (contact me via email). I have also seen Crete reefer equiped trailers. The stripes are yellow on them. Other big carriers that use reefer equipment and ship TOFC are Stevens Transport, FFE Transportation, and Alliance Shippers (who also owns some roadrailers by the way), just to name a few. So, go for the reefers!!!!!!!! and thanks for the dry box equipment. Can't wait to get a few of those Crete trailers!
There are so many types of Reefers out there, that it is somewhat difficult to settle on just one type. Our first will be of Wabash descent, but from there, who knows? We will be using a carrier reefer unit, as it is correct for the Ice Cold Express on the BNSF. We have a couple of things to still work out with our tooling folks on how to do the tool, but things are progressing. As to the Crete family, I would LOVE photos! In fact, if you have a favorite, send it along. The thing about trucking schemes (and containers for that matter) is that they are fleeting. As the financial packages and the use hours change, so does the paint. We're shooting like crazy out here in Burbank land, but a number of schemes that we thought were ubiquitous are simply gone gone gone. It is faster than the on the rail schemes, so shoot when you see them! As to the Hunt 53's- I think that it would be a really neat scheme to release. The containers sold really quickly, so we'll likely do the vans, too. Best- George Johnsen deLuxe innovations
Keep the great products coming George. More trailers sound awesome. I'm looking forward to your new containers too. I converted a couple of RoadRailers into highway trailers from undecorateds. I will be doing some more in Knight Transportation scheme. Some cool paint schemes can be found at the link below for the Wabash trailers. We see a lot of the Dart Advantage and Heartland Express here in the mid-west. Check out the Safeway reefer too. http://www.wabashnational.com/about/partners.htm
George: Lots of customers are asking why release these only with tractors? The tractors don't show up on TOFC trains.
