    Folks
I'm at the lowest point you could be, in a hobby. I just put DCC in this

So how could I be sad...
    The motor car
    First, it's poorly trucked.
What keeps worm pressure on the truck?
    Those little clips....
Anyway. I had it running, but I had to take th cover off 1 last time... and it broke. The bottom is plastic and the 2 buttons that hold on these holes, sheared

I don't want a shelf queen. I REALLY would like this to run well.
Is there anyone, in the US, Germany, the U.K. (It's Arnold Hornby) that would take this on?

    Message me !

Oh.... and there's a novel coupler, on the truck. I've found forums that discuss improvements... albeit, in German. I didn't translate.

Point. I have. I tried contacting them before I started looking at it. A week of non-response. I will try again though.

Repairing the two little buttons that sheared off might not be practical, without replacing the entire bottom chassis (a piece as long as the car). I wonder if you might be able to insert a thin piece of 2-sided tape on the inside of the car shell (upper part), in that end area of the car. Perhaps a combination of added friction and it stickiness might keep the car shell in place ?

You would not want this added thickness to make it difficult to push the car shell into place - if it did, then you might run the risk of cracking the car shell, which would put you in a much worse situation than what you have now.

I cannot offer any advice on any gear issues you might still be having.

Carl. The gear issue is the stopper. I think I can work out the shell. But, if it can never actually be a runner.... I'm hoping there is someone out there that regears as part of their business.

Wow, only one truck is powered? If it were mine, I would be shopping for another mechanism, like Atlas or Kato, that you could adapt those truck sideframes to. With that unconventional layout, I don't think you will be able to come up with a different truck that is more reliable. I can't suggest a mechanism since I am not familiar with any of the Arnold locomotive dimensions.

Thanks. Since it's a 3 car train period, I can live with 1 truck. But I need someone that could mount said gear. I get one shot, and lack the skills. I wouldn't mind if it meant gutting the motor car. I won't care if the wheels look different. Just gonna need the truck sides as they have the unique coupler. Actually I'm pretty sure mimicking that coupler bit, is the easy part. The gear ratio is goofy. Teeny worm teeny gear up against it. It is truly a beautiful model, but barring a response (probably from a German modeler) of "yes, I know this model. Here's what we do..."

Look at the various MU-style chassis available from Tomytec - see the Plaza Japan website. Japanese modelers have a wealth of MU-style models and Tomytec probably makes about a dozen different chassis to fit - and none are expensive.

The body shell is fairly simple, drill out the sheared part and replace with some brass rod of similar diameter or a hair larger.

    FOUND IT!!!!!!
Anyway, I'm hoping our friends at TB, will leave this post up. This German site specializes in discontinued European model parts and repair. I'm placing an order. They communicate in English. I am quite happy!!

What is their estimate of the cost to perform the repairs and what will be the shipping charges to send the unit back and forth?

I'm buying just the parts. The painted shell isn't available, I'm in the middle of email correspondence. Paused for Sunday. But, from my experience shipping to Europe is going to be expensive. Shipping from EU, is usually better.
