There is a rumor circulating that began on a forum thread that was needlessly allowed to continue without confirming directly with us if the rumor had any truth to it. This rumor is absolutely not true. We have no intentions of discontinuing production of our Z scale line. Our Z scale line not only will continue, but will continue to expand with the release of a Heavyweight Modernized Business Car this coming fall, as well as the reintroduction of our SD40-2’s in the near future. We would appreciate your help in sharing with any of your friends and contacts that the rumor is totally false. Thank you, Micro-Trains
Thanks for the 411 Joe, and hopefully this will lead to a better Z-scale community, and not blow up like on that "other" forum. "Heavyweight Modernized Business Car", that sounds pretty sweet!! My Milwaukee Road Empire could use a couple of those!!
Don't worry Joe, no one on that forum believes anything that guy says. That thread should have been deleted, not just locked. Greg
Probably some scalper trying to start a rush on MTL stuff so they could cash in their hoard for big bucks... Glad it's not true, even though this is the first I've heard of it- and it's great to hear the hood units are coming back.
There's no benefit to posting the location of that thread on another forum. The entire thread should have been deleted. I don't wish to be providing links to something like this. Greg
Right - please don't. Besides being against TB rules to post links to other boards simply to direct folks there; we also do not post links that disparage other boards (also against the rules). We are all in this hobby together
Thanks for the support guys. I found out who the offending party was and it confirmed that he has absolutely no idea about the internal workings of MTL or current contact with anyone in Oregon or myself. I had to deal with him at a show a few years ago and there was no way I could make him happy...he just needed to be right. This isn't the first time he's posted this kind of stuff and I doubt it will be the last. As for concerns, sure I wish the market was a big as everyone seems to think it is and it was as easy as scaling down stuff from N to z...but the truth is it's tiny and without the financial resources AZL has to invest it's difficult to chase pennies with dollars. And scaling down still means you have to redraw everything to allow for a smaller scale and cut the tooling so other than the initial research...you are starting with a clean slate no matter what scale you are changing to. Simple as that. A rivet in N scale disappears in Z...wall thicknesses are different as are the tolerances on details and function...part counts and on and on...
So the rumor is also false, that with every fifty dollar purchase, we get a seven day all expense paid vacation in Hawaii?
Completely false, what are you talking about? You know it's the rumba, not the hula... sheese, what is this place coming to? Greg
Thank you Joe for your statement... And I must admit that the return of the SD40-2 back to town is a great melody to my ears. Any hint of the roads that will be released ? A few mexican ones would be great.... Dom
