    Folks
I pulled out my Heavy Mountain and the coating is gone, from many of the wires. Is there anything I can use to re-insulate them. I'd like to avoid rewiring.

    Thanks
    Marty

Try liquid latex from any arts and crafts store. Paint the latex on with a small brush, one or two coats should work.

Scratch that... jdcolombo's idea is much better

Chances are the wires do have a thin clear coating on them.
All my Class J's, Mountains, etc all have some of the black off the wires between the engines and tenders, yet they all run perfect.
I did pull one of the tender body's off a Class J and where it plugs into the tender the wires (about 1/4") were never covered in black, fact their all touching.
Bachmann must have just lightly painted the coating on the wires between the engine and tender black so they wouldn't show.
Should be able to airbrush black lacquer back over the wires.
