Anyone recognize this car? I cannot find it in the MTL regular releases. It looks like a repaint job, but so far, I haven't found it in the Armstrong Special Runs guide either. Perhaps it is a custom job, but if so, it is of the highest quality. Bottom is die-cast underframe marked "Micro-Trains USA".

It does look to be a factory quality paint job.

    Did a little poking around.
Atlas did one in HO, but it was Green.
Also N Scale, green as well.
    A limited/special run by someone?
    My guess anyway.

When you look closely at the picture, you notice checking of the yellow paint to the left of the door and the paint has been applied thick around the door, it is probably a well done custom paint and decorated car of an age due to the checking of the paint. My guess. Could it be an Ak Sar Ben?

Armstrong has a fairly comprehensive list of AkSarBen repaints of MTL cars (which this definitely is) but I didn't see a listing for Northern Reffrigerator or Eatmor. I don't think the Armstrong list is complete, and it is possible that I simply missed it, but since the car came without a box, it is hard to be sure.

I also noticed the paint checking (it shows up more in the photo than to the eye) so this make me suspect it was Al's, Aztec, Aksarben, Bev-Bel or one of the others.

Looks like ntex wins the ham. I'd never heard of Cloverhouse -- some very nice dry transfers there.

Clover House is a great source for dry transfer lettering. A better option in some ways to using individual decal lettering to custom letter a piece of equipment with a number of great letter types available. It will be the method I will eventually employ to letter my items, even have lettering that closely matches Norfolk & Western's own lettering which is an advantage since my freelanced lines are "friendly" connections.

...been using Cloverhouse dry transfers for over 20 years. Great stuff (and they have transfers for the NWP). The real give away that it's dry transfers is the kind of blotchy lettering in the real small letters.
