My Idea: There are many detail parts that span decades, models, and even manufacturers. Some of these detail parts include: -Windshield Wipers -Rear View Mirrors -Lift Rings -Sunshades -Cut Levers -Grab Irons -Trainline Air Hoses -MU Air Hoses -Fan Grills w/Blades -etc. Now, would you be interested in a "parts pack" that included all of these details to complete one or two locomotives? Instead of buying 10 bags of different parts, you could buy one bag that would give you literally everything you need, minus the road specific details that some locomotives have (thanks SP, SF, etc.). In HO, Details West has sets available for specific locomotive types, but I was thinking more along the lines of: -Modern GE Parts Pack -Modern EMD Parts Pack -2nd Generation EMD Parts Pack Although some parts are universal, you wouldn't need 48" fans with a GE locomotive, or EMD's new cab sunshade with a GE locomotive. These are the items that would differ between the packages. What do you guys think? Would you buy the pack even if you didn't use a few of the "hardcore" parts in it? Also, THREE new products were announced today at www.nscaleblma.com Remember to bookmark the page so you don't miss any announcements! Thanks!
And timely too... I was just thinking that I wanted to put trainline airhoses on all of my rolling stock (and get rid of the silly looking trip pin).
Horns, although JNJ has the only foothold in the horn area currently (Sunrise makes "generic" horns). All the Leslie and Nathan varieties.
I haven't done a lot of engine detailing because I'm too busy with other things to do the research for the correct parts. If all I had to do was the install and paint there is no doubt I would do more of it. What a great idea
Seriously... I might as well be a brain surgeon! Thanks for all the input guys, I will definately put everything to good use as time permits.
Gold Metal models has a diesel detailing kit, something like this. Having used your excellent detailing parts, I would definatly buy yours!
Thanks Jerry! I have used a ton of the Gold Medal Models diesel detailing sets, but I have always felt that there could have been more to it, if not, of a little higher quality. I'm not saying his stuff isn't good, but there are relief details missing on some of the items. On top of improving parts, my part would utilize etched metal, wire and injection molded parts to give you a more well rounded set of details. Thanks for all of the information everyone!
Hello, Craig, that is a great idea!!!! I'm already sold! I hope your able to do this. I know I'd find it to be a great thing! Best of luck! Happy Rails, Rick
