My name is Brendan. I started modelling at Christmas 2003 with Bachmann's "Deluxe Thomas, Annie, and Clarabel" set. Which I still have, though Thomas and his coaches are in sad shape due to my early ineptitude at customization and soldering (destroyed Thomas' motor housing trying to repair a broken wire connection back in 2008 or 2009) but restoration has begun..

As of 2015 I started building up my collection of American models (previously consisting of a Bachmann ATSF F9A from the remains of a set my paternal grandmother haf intended for me but which was ravaged by my cousins, a handful of Athearn bluebox freight cars that had undergone abortive attempts at customization, and an OK Streamliners 60' dome car) and have been building it slowly since then.

I've come across this forum several times while searching for reference images for my modelling, and so today I decided to join.

Welcome aboard, Brendan. I like your account of making mistakes in the past. I believe I have made hundreds. There is a lot of good info here.

Hi Brendan and welcome to the board. Tearing into something that's broke is one way of learning how things work.
