How do I ask this, has anyone tried to run a sound loco with a dcc only? In other scales they never run together.

I (and everyone else I know, including folks that have large HO scale layouts running sound locos with non-sound locos from different manufacturers) do this all the time. You may have to do some speed matching if the non-sound loco has a different decoder (or even if not - two locomotives, even if they are from the same manufacturer with the same decoder, motor and trucks rarely run at exactly the same speeds), but this is what DCC is for. Adjust the speed of one of the locos to match the other (you can often do this adequately using CV's 2, 5 and 6, rather than having to do a full-on speed table) and that's it.

I have a Kato P42 with a Digitrax sound decoder and a second P42 with a regular Digitax decoder and run them together all the time. Sure, I'd need to tweak the speed settings to sync them up, but I used a scale speedometer and that helps out immensely.

I just want to make sure of something - you're not running DC, are you? If not, it takes about 5 minutes to program CVs 2, 5, and 6 to get locomotives to run together adequately - there are plenty of guides on the internet to do this. I have all my locomotives speedmatched, and I've also given them a top speed of 65MPH.
