Tender Back Shop SP Bayshore Rail Yard May 2007
These are pics of the remains of the Bayshore Rail Yard, which was located on the south border of San Francisco, California. It closed in about 1982. It was a huge yard that had a roundhouse with a turntable, and many repair sheds for all types of rolling stock. In the late 1950's you could see both steam and deisel loco's there... and hundreds of rolling stock on all of the sidings. All that remains now are the gutted shell of the roundhouse and the tender repair shed. The crossing signal is one of the street entrances to the yard. There are also pics of a disassembled locomotive. It is being restored by a private group. It is the state harbor steam loco switcher #4, built in 1911.
