I'm not sure why but this has captured my imagination. I like what you've done here.

Sorry, have only just noticed your comment. I am pleased with your comment...thanks! If you care to try, I'd be curious to know what it is that captures you about the image. I like its angle and depth. Some like busy scenes, but I tend to prefer something on the minimalist side..so I don't place a lot of eye candy in mine.

Oh gosh, let's see. What best... captures my attention. The train at stop with the smoke (tricky illusion) and the whistle apparently blowing two shorts as the engineer and fireman are ready to go.

The way you laid out the track with the roundhouse in the background and the buildings realistically placed trackside. The curved run through tracks.

Railfans or perhaps the crew, how about two curious youngsters...standing out and away from the train? Swapping stories, or admiring the locomotive and waiting for the conductor to signal the brakeman has been called in and all is aboard...highball.

It's a quiet scene that says all is at peace and speaks of a quieter and grander time.

The scene as you have set it up reminds me of a location I've visited on the 1X1 foot scale. For the life of me I can't remember the precise location. Perhaps a small station set in the foothills of Ohio or Pennsylvania, Donner Pass perhaps Truckee. More then likely the Durango & Silverton in Colorado. Yep, that be it!

You got me on this one...as it isn't just one thing it is a combination of everything in the scene. Kept simple but speaks volumes.

My compliments and thanks for sharing such a well composed photo. Don't tell me it's been photo shopped...I'd lose my faith in modelers. Exception being the smoke from the stack and steam emitted from the whistle. Nice touch. Grin!

Rick, again I have been slow to see your comment. Thanks so much. I did photo-shop (not that software, though) a drywall covering box at upper left, on the wall just above the water tower. It covers a knot of plumbing leading to the septic tank. Looks odd, so I blended in the hillside up to get rid of the shadow of the underside of the box. The rest is as you see it.
