I'm thinking of doing the same thing with the waterfall only building an indoor pump/pool to recycle it back into the system. I used to work part time at a local zoo that had a system like that so I know how they do it.
The plan is to take the first 24 inch square mat out...and PAINT a whirlpool on the floor there... ;-)
