Nope. The AC-9s were built to burn Phelps Dodge coal while running in New Mexico. The SP bought [SIZE=-1]El Paso & Southwestern from Phelps Dodge and promised to use their coal. [/SIZE]
Hemi These were Yellowstones that SP got with standard cab placement. They also burned coal for a time, and later changed to oil. They were assigned to the old El Paso & Southwestern on the Sunset route, and later to the Modoc Line. They had skyline casings and strips on the pilot. Semi streamlined.
Somehow, it just seems strange to see this style on SP. I suppose it's because their cab forward type got so much publicity. Boxcab E50
