(The G markers on the signal bridge denote Grade and these permit a train in the other direction to pass a red signal at restricted speed rather than stop and proceed at restricted speed. If a heavy freight were to stop and proceed on the grade, it might be difficult to get it moving again. The G marker helps keep the railroad fluid, yet safe.)
