Hemi, This is probably a dumb question for most, but I'm unlearned on this. Why is so much of the tunnel showing, is this just from erosion or have they dug it out? I noticed this on a couple other pics of yours where the whole tunnel portal was just sitting out in an open passage.
The entire tunnel was daylighted. Unsure of an exact date, but they dug the whole tunnel out. Also unsure of why the lining was lft intact, and allowed to collapse. Geology of the area between Lewistown, and Great Falls, is highly unstable. Plus, there have been some earthquakes. History of that line includes many, many slides, fills sinking, etc. Boxcab E50
