Added some white decal step stripes and some thin white stripes to the vertical handrails. I also painted the front MU recepticle covers to match the prototype and painted the fuel cap red.

This is a TCS CN-GP decoder install that I did. I wasn't too crazy about the demo TCS shows, but hey, what ever works for you. It seemed like it might be a pain tucking all the wires in, not to mention I wanted as much wire as possible for the motor leads in case of future work...its getting old, may need a new motor, ya never know.

My home made 5 chime airhorns for the Bachmann DDA40X. I used a scrap piece of .010" styrene and drilled #71 holes in it in the pattern the trumpets needed to be. Next I cut the individual needed trumpes from some spare Kato horns I have and put them in the bracket I made. Then I glued it on the unit and painted it. I did have to widen the holes for the trumpets to be inserted, so maybe a #70 or #69 drill bit would have been better. It's not a fancy brass detail part but it looks better than that thing Bachmann glued to the roof.

The two different ways I tried for installing MT couplers on the new Bachmann DD40. In the future I'll use the method on top and just cut off the screw tabs. The tabs are really not needed once the MT couplers are installed and it is much easier to do the cutting required without them.

IM F units with McHenry couplers. I used the stock screw that held the MT coupler on for this. Next time I might glue the styrene to the mounting pad and use a smaller screw...if I can find one.

Before and after, 20ft between units didn't amuse me. Red Caboose won't answer email and the unimate couplers I need are nowhere to be found. So I jerry rigged some new McHenry couplers on my IM F units. Right behind the coupler on the shank is a round mold mark, thats where I made my hole. I also added a small piece of styrene to the top of the shank that was even with the top of the coupler so it won't hit the body. THIS IS A VERY FRAGILE PROCESS and I wound up having to glue a few of mine, but they work and that's what matters to me.

Modified Con-Cor MHC. How to: Cut off the ends of the frame just outside the last cross member. Turn the end pieces around at each end and the bolsters should now be in a little bit more of a correct spot, add MT BX express trucks and your ready to go. This one was a full repaint so I added the Kato MHC detail set to it as well. I did have to use the little spacer on the trucks too.

New Bach. DD40. Just a little bit goes a long way on these guys. Added I-beams at both ends of the fuel tank to simulate a frame and painted all the little nooks and crannies on the trucks black to give them a little more definition. What to do with that awful horn and beacon?

Custom Con-Cor U50. Its got the old Kato motor and runs like a champ. I also glued two old coupler springs, one on each side to the top of the inner trucks to help them hold the rail better and not jump around on switches. Every last open space inside my U50's is stuffed with moldable lead weight...They WILL pull a train.
