1928 Sunbeam

Before there was a Daylight there was the Sunbeam. These cool gents are perched on the rear platform of Texas and New Orleans’ new deluxe non-stop train, the Sunbeam. It is almost noon, departure time for the train, on an August day in 1928, and the train shed is protecting the train and its passengers as much as possible from the Texas sunshine. After a brisk ride at speeds up to 55 miles per hour, the passengers will arrive in Dallas at 6:30, in time for dinner. (Courtesy, Houston Metropolitan Research Center, Houston Public Library.)
