Yes we are gathered here once again for a special extended Weekend Modeling Plans. Lets see if we can make the most of it.

Of course, Thursday here in the States is Thanksgiving, despite what the retail stores and television ads are saying with their "magical holiday sales". I'm excited because I love to cook and it is the one of the few times of the year I kick everyone OUT of the kitchen and prepare a rather traditional New England style feast, complete with homemade stuffing (That's dressing for the rest of the country), butternut squash, mashed potato and of course Turkey! My day will start out early and will end with family and an adult beverage of some type. It will be a bit bittersweet however as this will be Angela and I's last Thanksgiving in Illinois, but we look forward to celebrating it in New Hampshire next year.

Friday is the day I plan to do nothing but watch train videos and work on the layout. I have that pesky switch to work on as well as some other improvements to perform. Ang and Jared will go shopping much latter in the day, which is fine for me as an empty house allows me to get a lot done. Friday night I plan to take it easy and watch some more train videos or watch some movies I have wanted to see.

Saturday, it's back to work in the shop. I really want to finish that D&RGW GP30 as well as finish up some other loose ends. Saturday afternoon, I'm hopping to take Angela up to Streator Illinois for the Christmas celebration. Of course there is a train excuse in there. A few fellow N scale modelers are setting up their Ntrak modules and I want to see the full scale trains as well. Regardless of all the train activities, there is enough Christmas activities to convince the future wife that this will be a great "Date Night" activity.

Sunday, we are planning on doing some decorating. The temps will be somewhat warm, so now is the best time to get the yard decorated with lights and such. I received this years MTH Christmas car so the Christmas train can be set up as well as time allows. Sunday may even be just a day to relax before the "Holiday Madness" as I call it, sets in.

So how about you? What do you have planned for this extended weekend? Our friends outside of the United States can post too, even if this is not a long weekend for you, and you retired guys? Well just report when you can, preferably between the dates given!

Now a for something I have done in the past and don't sweat it, its pretty easy. In one sentence, let us know what YOU as a model railroader are thankful for. From being thankful for having an understanding family regarding your train addiction to DCC itself, lets hear what you have to bring to the table. Pun fully intended:)

For me? I am thankful for a future wife who understands and embraces my hobby as well as all the great friends I have made through out the many years of participating in this great pastime.

There you have it, I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Please be safe, have a great time and once again...

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

    High Greens!

I volunteered to work Thursday and Friday, however, I need time to change the roof on my scratch built warehouse, the styrene that I used was too thin and it curled up

Since we're heading up north this weekend, I'm going to build a fire, sit in front of the window, maybe watch the snow fall on the woods and kitbash some old Ford trucks.

I'm thankful for the modeling communities - real and virtual - that I"m a member of.

Still looking for permanent digs down south so train activity will likely be limited to Friday railfanning with my kids in tow. Considering we get a train about every half hour - I need to make sure the camera batteries are charged.

I too am doing all the cooking this year, but it's just the wife and I. Started yesterday by making a big pot of chicken stock, tonight will be pie and stuffing, and then tomorrow the turkey and sides. Train-wise, I have a hundred little things that I could do, and hope to get at least of few of them done. If nothing else, I'll run some trains and be happy with that.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and thanks for all the help, advice, and support I've gotten on this board.

I'm not sure what I'll get into. I am out of flex track and cork roadbed, I'm not planning to restock until after Christmas. I am glad I have the track work complete on the lower level, but I am not discovering some old turnouts I reused that need replaced. Better now than after I have ballast and scenery down.

I have a Ye Old Huff N Puff Wood Bay Window caboose I started a couple weeks ago, I might work on that.

A am thankful for trainboard and this very extended family where there is no dumb questions. Looking at my layout while I pass the door way every day it needs to be dusted some how.

Unfortunately, holidays and weekends are just days that end in "Y" as far as the railroad is concerned, so I'll be working the entire time. But when I get a free moment, I have a few things headed my way from Shapeways that I'll be trying out. Hopefully my measurements are good and my designs work.

    Hang in there, Ryan.

As my Dad used to say (and I'm now enjoying) "Retirement is six Saturdays & a Sunday each week, and I only know it's Sunday because your Mother takes me to church."

Keep up the good work, you'll get there.

I just finished ballasting my module, so some scenery may be in the near future. I need to airbrush the Magic Pan bakery, so that might get done instead of scenery. My modular club has a layout set up in a rented storefront, so I will be down there for the Christmas tree lighting ceremony this weekend.

I put down some ground cover yesterday, and hope to plant trees today. Bare spots bug me. Maybe I'll put in some bears partially hidden within the trees just for the "startle" effect on viewers faces.....:p

No more plywood! A major milestone!

    Congratulations!

Wrap a nylon stocking around the end of the vacuum hose. It cuts down the suction a bit and catches the signs and whatnot that come loose so you can put them back.

    Did it improve it?

Oh, sorry. You probably like cornbread. I guess most people do...

I work Every weekend so nothing new. Only difference it looks like is I am not on the extra board and know when I am coming and going.

More wiring. I'll probably start positioning my UP5 panels around the layout. Temporary of course until the "fascia" board goes in when its time. I found a bulk roll of 6wire RJ12 cable and am ready to go. I also plan on joining the track between the staging yard and mainline.

Lots to do. But it is a nice problem.

Nope, just seniority. Gotta love being #4 in the crew base.
