Saw the following from Joe D'Amato..... The body is die cast with plastic decks, bolster supports and other details. The decking has thru holes and look pretty cool and this will have body mount couplers and a new truck, the ASF Ride Control. This should be available around the beginning of 2017. Also the 48' container is due for release shortly
But why another 48' well car? It's not like I don't have excessive numbers of the Roundhouse/Athearn car. Adrian
kinda puzzled about that myself. I would have done a Thrall well car to give us something other than the Walthers occasional run.
I seriously doubt they will be released in January, otherwise we would have heard about pre-orders already. Maybe they might announce them by then.
Considering that my source is the guy who is the design engineer, who has been doing this for years, I am pretty sure that Joe will have them on time
I'm not doubting their timeliness, it's just that it's pretty much unheard of in the model RR business today to release a new product out of nowhere without a formal product announcement and the inevitable pre-order process. I've gone over their website -- where they do announce upcoming products -- and there is no mention of any intermodal cars in N scale.
Micro Trains only does preorders on runner packs and train sets. They released a new coupler, a heavyweight horse car and an Airslide hopper within the last year without any preorders
Right, MTL will sometimes announce a new body style or product at a show but they release cars monthly so they are just included with them. Didn't the 48' container just show up for this month without much warning (like we need it! Haha)? It's refreshing to hear about a product and then have it in your hands in 1-3 months (depending on how closely you monitor the forums for early info).
The first 6 container styles have been advertised in the press for most of the year and pre-production samples of those containers, plus the artwork for the next containers and well car was shown at the NTS in July and on the FVM facebook page at the time. The FVM standard cab GP60s were announced on Friday 11/4 and start shipping on the 15th, so FVM has their own pre-order rules....
Wait, are you talking about containers, or well cars? I did hear about the containers, but not any well cars...I thought they were talking about well cars..
