A few cars I picked up online, all KO&G. The box is Atlas Classic, the two covered hopper kits are Bowser, and I'm unsure of the lineage of the two open-top hoppers. The one with horn-hook couplers mounted to the trucks will see some time in the shop before I put it on the road (as well the other four cars- metal wheels, Kadee couplers, extra weight, a little weathering).
A Frisco Mike in Canada..........now all you need is a wooden Frisco caboose for the rear end, and you're all set.
I have two pumpkins on Wiregrass Central property in Enterprise, Alabama. Just had decals made. Will be watching your paint progress. Will be a first paint with airbrush for me.
Since they are undecorated to begin with there are lots of small pieces Tom put together. Hard to make a starting point.
The Turtle Creek Central management just received their first Wide Vision caboose! This will be numbered 57. Identifying decals are being applied soon. Management really likes this new color scheme, much simpler than the original bay window #52.
Picked these up today at the Bixby Train Show. 3 Acurail CNW covered Hopper kits. Paid 6 bucks apiece for them. They are now assembled with metal wheel sets and Kaydee couplers. The GP 7 is a Atlas Classic. I picked it up for 40 bucks. The guy said it ran.... I opened it and there was a plug-in Digitrax DH-123 decoder already in it. Ok, not bad but when I got it home and put it on the rails, it threw a short code with the lights. I checked the wiring and could not find any issues. I plugged in a DH126 I had and it ran fine. So not sure how good a deal I got there. But it does look nice. This is kind of a departure from my usual motive power but it's nice to see some vintage stuff running occasionaly.
Well the paint shop boys have been busy...they got the decals on the caboose! Now they just have to get the end railing done, and get ready for the final inspections....
My latest purchase was two of these UTAH RAILWAY hoppers, from TANGENT. They're a little on the spendy side (for me) but they are a favorite even if the wrong era. They have a built date on them of 3-58. But they look good with the TCC equipment and the UTAH SD40s....
I am modeling the 1970's through early 1980's and I believe the Utah 3 bay hoppers from Tangent were still being used into the 1980's; I have picked up 5 so far to mix in with some UP 3 and 4 bay coal cars and pulled by Atlas RS4/5's. The proper ex-UP caboose is a bit of a challenge however.
I mentioned the proper ex-UP caboose is a bit of a challenge because unfortunately the Centralia Car Shops UP caboose is not correct for the Utah Railway caboose but is more of a "stand-in" - the Centralia Shops cabooses is good for CA 3/4 type UP caboose while the Utah Railway cabooses acquired from UP were CA-5 and CA-6; the only HO models of CA-5 & 6 are brass. Yes, it's a decent stand-in. BTW, I did email Intermountain asking why they don't offer that UP caboose in Utah paint and they told me because it's not the right caboose. But IIRC, it's not like they haven't done foobies before. Maybe I will take a second shot at them and try again. Sure, I could try painting one but I have too many things to work on as it is and no place to paint really.
So you're saying you just have to replace the roof to get it to look right? Maybe Shapeways could help.
I have not studied the UP CA-3/4 vs. CA-5/6 class cabooses closely but the roof was pointed out as a significant difference. I thought the same thing and if Centralia could just tool another roof, apparently it would major step, maybe THE step toward offering two more classes of cabooses. If Shapeways could do the roof that would be great.
Picked up a Proto 2000 Limited Edition SW900 with sound for $85 at a show last weekend. I think it maxes out my Power Cab since it runs a little wonky, time to save up for the wireless system.

Just in today, from an Ottawa model RR flea market (OVAR): CN_3665A by Mike VE2TRV posted Nov 6, 2016 at 7:54 PM Limited edition MLW RS-18 by Proto/Hobbycraft. A little damage to the handrails, and it needs a full cleaning and lube to get the current draw down (up to 3/4 amp at times - Protos are usually around 0.2A - and runs a bit too warm). But it's in good condition overall. That's a nice find for me, as RS-18s were a common sight around my home town when I was growing up in the 70s, and the sound of an idling 251 still warms my heart after all those years.
I went to the Syracuse, NY Train Show last weekend (Nov. 5 & 6, 2016) and picked up this engine. It's old but had never been run.
