I got two of these off of Ebay a while back. Other than the boxing glove Bachmann couplers they are quite nice. I have only test run them thus far but running qualities were good. Haven't conducted any pulling power test yet. My original intent was to use them as private owner mine or industrial switchers. Still undecided about that.
I got several of them for my unit trains. In addition to being a EOTD they also add enough resistance to nullify the dreaded yoyo (aka: slinky) effect of the MT couplers.
Thanks and it's just a temporary arrangement for those of the faint of heart. The edge of my, hopefully, future layout is currently the best way to stretch out my passenger cars since it's the longest stretch of flat free space in my apartment. Also, cars don't roll very well on wood and there are tall obstacles below the frame that keep stray limbs at a safe distance. That said, now that I have reached critical mass with the cars for my Canadian, I have been thinking about building something for "showing off" purchases/completed projects. The early favourite for that is Parry Sound station and yard if I can track down the plans for the station: http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=22567
Yep, it's a shame that Atlas bought BMLA and has apparently discontinued all of the detail parts BLMA made. If I see an Atlas car I really want, it will get body mounted MT couplers or trucks ( for tankers). Waiting on my latest purchase to show up in the US Mail. I have almost completed my set of 64010 Santa Fe TOFC cars when I won an auction for 5 cars last week. 2 cars from set 1 and all 3 cars from set 2. I was lucky enough to pick up set three in the discount bin at Papa Ben's in Houston in May of this year and 293304 from E-Bay soon after. Feels good to get all 5 cars for just over 80 bucks instead of paying $200 for set 2 and around 100 to 150.00 for set 1. They're not on the right boxes and some of the trailers are mixed up but I am buying runners and not collector queens sealed in factory air. I now have an intermodal train that will actually run around a T-Trak layout without the problems associated of 89' flat cars on 11" curves Now just waiting on my pre-order Santa Fe SDF40-2's to show up and I am good to go.
Okay received the DCC Sound version of Kato SDP40, sounds great but my other non sound unit will have to be matched as they new unit is programed to speed up or slow down to match the sound. I know I can just shut that feature down, but it will then be out of sync....Again SOUNDS GREAT!!!!!!
Just received AFT "Press Car" from Lowell Smith. Beautiful car !!! Got mine much later than the rest of the World because I ordered it late (Aug 29). Also ordered the next car in the series, but I don't officially consider it a "purchase" 'til I get to drool on it !!!
Got mine too......Going to start using the new MT couplers to body mount as I'm really not in love with the truck mounted system...Probably going with American Limited diaphragms.....
Actually, Paul Graf says the opposite. http://www.trainboard.com/highball/...o-purchase-blma-models-inc.89662/#post-956704
I bought an MT 53' container in the EMP scheme. The shop where I bought it told me that these containers are selling very well, with MT continually running out. I can believe it, I've managed to find only two of the 5-6 that have been released.
Just received MT N&W Bicentennial hopper. There MUST be something wrong when I can say that a freight car is beautiful !!!
A quartet of Bowser N5cs, two each with and without antenna. Just before those, a pile of FVM wheels and several building kits... next will be even more wheels because I underestimated how many I'd actually be needing of the 0.553" axles.
Went to Grand River Valley RR Club show in Wyoming MI. Picked up Atlas GM&O RS-1 and beer can tank car. Central Car Shop UP caboose. Intermountain Sioux City Beef reefer. MT WC Model Railroad boxcar. Athearn P&LE flat car. Dan
They probably count as overkill in the megaton range. However, with the paint shop on my workbench starting to get busy, I figure they might be worth it considering how little I paid for them.
There comes a point when you find a deal too good to ignore and not use as the start point for a project. At $20 each and a close match to the FEC cars that CN bought, how could I not go after one more and do one of the Dayniters that were built from those cars?
Just received M/T N&W Bicentennial 40' foot trailer !!! I now have the trailer, the hopper, and all the goodies to make the SD-45. Now, if someone just made the right caboose in N scale.... !!!
Kato FEF... #838... 2 TCS DCC decoders, one for each FEF #844 & #838. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
I just purchased a Kato FEF #838 with a ESU Lok-Sound decoder installed. I already have 3 Kato #844 FEF's with Lok-Sound decoders installed in all three. Staying cool and having fun with it...... Shades
Found a 5-unit Sea-Land Deluxe Innovations well car set at a show last weekend for $35, yes please! I've been collecting the blue MTL Shasta Springs water box cars and found my 6th car...for $3! Best deal on one of those yet. Found 4 loose 89' MTL flat cars to carry the 130' wind turbine blades. Was a good day at the show.
