Was out taking a morning walk (before the mercury goes above 90 again), and was on the Alameda Creek Regional Trail, near our house. As I was nearing the trestle that crosses the creek from Union City to Fremont, I could vaguely hear a train whistle (over all the leaf blowers from the gardeners). It kept getting louder, so I figured I might be in luck today! Pulled out my phone, and within a few seconds, the southbound Coast Starlight appeared!

Do you know if the B32's are normal or just as needed?

Were they on time this morning? Which means you know when to catch them for more photos, another day.....

Usually just 2 P42s. Not sure why P32 #505 was on there this morning.

Actually a bit early, it seemed to me. Most of the time they are late, so timing is difficult (unless I start monitoring individual trains). And, I ducked away from work this morning, since I wanted to get a walk in before it got too hot. Also, they don't always use this track.

Now, by spring next year, I will no longer have to worry about being on the computer and working. Then, maybe I will monitor, and take my good cameras up to the track for some good photos

The P32s aren't there every time, but they're pretty common.

A P32 was running as the second unit on the northbound Crescent (#20) Wednesday. I believe this is rare. I never saw one the many times I rode before retirement, nor have I seen any on various YouTube videos. Does anyone know if there's a problem within the nationwide P42 fleet that may be causing this?

We rode the Coast Starlate two years ago. The lead locomotive had a historic paint scheme SAM_5580.JPG

I'm guessing that brick building in the left background is now apartments, or condos? If so, might be a good place for watching trains.

As far as I know it's still the Albers Flour mill. Could be wrong as things are changing fast in the area

It looks like this train also had a P32 as its second loco

Guess I've been in the wrong places, at the wrong times, but I have as yet to see and photo a P32-8WH. Somehow I must miss them, or they don't wander through my vicinity.

Having ridden the Coast Starlight last month, I must say it is a very interesting trip. Great and some bad sight seeing.
