Ruseell, those are great looking bridges, they look real! Managed to finish a couple of cars this week!! Robbins Rails PS1 Boxcar Kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and lettered with Mask Island Decals. Intermountain R70-20 PC&F Reefer Kit, painted with Scalecoat II Armour Yellow and lettered with Herald King Decals. Pair of U30B Walthers Proto Engines that I acquired last year, very well done and well running engines. They are passing the new bulk unloading area at the Strongsville, OH Club layout, Leon Lavdas scratch built the scale based on real ones he used on his job as a truck driver. He also acquired the trailer seen on the scale from Shapeways and painted it for use on the layout. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
From the Ewing Oil Refinery on the SNMNS club layout. Two crude oil floating roof tanks, one on pump up and one on suction ........................ One more, main gate action at Ewing Oil ...............................
How did you fair during and after the storm, every thing okay? (I live in kingwood, lucky we didn't flood.
We had about 9 inches of rain the last few days but only minor street flooding that drained away quickly. The Brazos River at Richmond, the prototype location for the bridges I modeled above, crested yesterday at 49.46 feet, the record in recent years is 50.3 feet. In Sugar Land it crested today and is starting to recede. Further down river it is still rising.
A fun little project I just about finished. I found a Roco crane at a model show a few weeks ago, and turned the blank yellow upper body into something a bit more digestible, and added a Roundhouse short flat car (from a kit of three). IMGP2382B1 by Mike VE2TRV posted Apr 22, 2016 at 2:03 PM
Finished a couple cranes this weekend. These are again from the crane parts box. I used the Roco booms, and Athearn crane houses and chassis on other projects. So, I ended up with a bunch of extra stuff, I dont need or want these so they be going up for sale. They are Roco cranes with Athearn booms, the 100 ton hook operates up and down the 250 ton hook is static. The tenders I made from yep spare parts too I had 1 Athearn 50ft gondola and the bottom of a MDC 50ft box car, both cut in half with my metal cutting band saw and spliced together, used some styrene plastic channel, made a set of boxes with .040 styrene, the other boxes were made with extra pikestuff plastic and also cut the side doors (I thought the box needed doors) off a SP SD40T-2 shell that had been cannibalized for other projects. Did I mention nothing ever gets thrown away around here? The vent/stack on top the blues boxes on the tenders is actually the tool used to raise and lower the booms and 100 ton hooks. The darker Grey one represent a freshly painted crane and tender, while the light grey represents a very faded paint job. If you go here http://espee.railfan.net/wreckers.html you can see some interesting stuff and the idea behind the paint on these. Anyways here are some pictures of my meager attempts in trying to fit all this Roco/Athearn/MDC/Pikestuff, and all together. Painted up a couple trucks and some plaster crates to put in the tenders so they would look so empty. Thanks for looking!!
Had fun posing a gold spike ceremony for the completed mainline. http://www.trainboard.com/highball/...c-and-black-hills-ry.69565/page-7#post-973547
