Just wanted to know who likes the SW line of switchers? Here are a couple of mine: The UTAH RAILWAY 27. Although the UTAH didn't roster any SWs, I thought they needed one.
And here's the Athearn anniversary 96 which inspired the paint scheme for the MORONI FEED SW1000 UTAH 27.JPG Utah Railway 27.JPG 96 & 745.jpg 745 Moroni Feed switcher.jpg ATH 96 NP 3.jpg ATH 96 and TCC 315.jpg

Love switchers, too. Especially running them cab-forward where the crew's view must be awesome!

I'm a big fan of purposeful locomotives, and I've got an SW1500 to prove it.

The D&RGW never M.U.ed their SW units...so these two are just waiting for their next assignments. 148 is a BB kit with added detail, while the 144 is fresh out of the box. Both are Athearn. 148 144 .jpg .

The Yreka Western had two SW-8s ... #20 and #21. They were unique because they were equipped with dynamic brakes.
I enjoyed driving them; but not as much as I did the old #19 Mike. But as mentioned above they had wonderful visibility while running cab-forward.
Number 20 was scrapped a couple of years ago. The 21 is still hanging in there, altho it has not seen freight service since 2008.

I love end cab switchers. In fact I love them so much I ended up creating a shortline to feed my railroad. Similar to the Union RR or the WV Northern or Lehigh Valley's use of their SW8 pups.

Anyhow, I do have some switchers on the Chicopee Road roster, including this pair of ALCO S4's. This is an old photo from 2 or 3 years ago on the old layout.

I had an Atlas Alco HH600 for the longest time, lettered for NYC. I finally let it go since it doesn't fit my era, but it was a fun and unique locomotive. I also really like, but haven't bought, the Fairbanks-Morse H16-44 with the oval side windows in NYC's black lightning stripe. You can find the gray ones all day long but they just don't do it for me.

I have 2 MP15ac's on order. Yes the Utah doesn't have any but GWI does and so it will be painted in the genessee pumpkin colors with Utah decals. I need two switchers so why not?

Here are a couple of shots of an end cab that I forgot I had...the FM H10-44. The Rio Grande had four of these. H10-44 FM 120.jpg FM H10-44 120.jpg

After receiving a new cab from Bowser/Stewart I decaled my VO660 to #67. I used the yellow Microsecale D&RGW decals 87-1490. The yellow of the decals is a bit brighter than the facorty paint, but I think with a bit of weathering, you won't notice. I'm trying to figure out how to make the numbers for the front of the radiator as in the proto pic at the bottom. The EMD SW series started with the SW-7 and ended with the SW-1500. Many of them still around

Dont think I ever noticed those numbers before. They may have cut them out of metal painted and attached huh? I would think it very delicate, to try and cut around an HO decal, that would be a challenge for me for sure.

I'm trying to get someone to cut them out of vinyl, and then I can paint them to match. The problem is that the 6 and 7 in Railroad Roman font are very delicate.
